In the summer of 2014, Strüss was commissioned by Washington State's Soundside Marine Life Rescue Center to design and paint a 14 x 9 foot mural. The mural was themed to include as many native Puget Sound marine mammals as possible while also including local and regional landmarks. Strüss enlisted the help of his children in blocking out colors and shapes in what would be the final composition. The painting was completed in the two weeks prior to the Center's grand opening to the public.
